Seminar: Annika Joy Meitern

“Water movement in trees“

Summary: Water transport from roots to leaves is essential for plants to keep up photosynthesis, grow and survive. Water moves through water-conducting tissue called xylem. The main driving force for long-distance water transport in the xylem is transpiration, but also xylem sap ionic content affects it on a short time scale.
