Estonian nature writing: what stories do plants tell?

In the seminar, we will first make a brief excursion into the notion of nature writing, focusing especially on its Estonian tradition. Then we will have a closer look at some particular examples of botanical nature writing by Johannes Piiper, Haide-Ene Rebassoo, and Fred Jüssi. Finally, a discussion is initiated about the proper means of studying such texts. Do we need botanists to assist literary scholars in such cases? How to carry out transdisciplinary research in a meaningful way?
