Effect of environmental drivers on plant specialised metabolite profiles

MSc. Linda Rusalepp (Tartu Ülikool)

Plants produce a wide array of metabolites that are considered specialised (or secondary) metabolites. These are compounds that are not essential for vegetative growth, but they do have incredibly diverse structural features which help to mitigate various environmental stresses, deter herbivores and pathogens and also attract pollinators. I will talk about the effect of abiotic envrionmental drivers and competition on mostly phenolic compounds in some forest and meadow plants.
