Genomic features of fungus-associated bacteria

MSc. Daniyal Gohar (Tartu Ülikool/University of Tartu)

Fungi host diverse communities of bacteria that can establish either commensalistic or symbiotic relationships with their hosts.  Despite their important role in fungal functioning, the genomic features of these bacteria are not well understood. I will present my preliminary results on a comprehensive comparative analysis where we analyzed the 1205 whole genomes of bacteria isolated from various habitats including plants, fungi, water, human, and soil while focusing on the distinct features of fungus-associated bacteria that could be important for successful adaptation to fungal habitat.
