Nature and the supernatural in contemporary beliefs

On one hand, the idea of the supernatural has roots in Christian theology; on the other hand, it encounters with mysterious phenomena beloning to traditional folkloric storytelling. Modernization and disenchantment (Entzauberung) of the world have pushed the supernatural to the realm of fiction, but these processes have only had a limited effect, as the supernatural keeps reappearing in different forms. The presentation sheds light on current beliefs and narratives about the supernaturalization of nature, focusing on contemporary Estonia.
